The past year has been hard for all of us. Our resilience, commitment and passion to our patients, and profession have been put to the test. Despite the challenge that the year brought, the Inclusion in Neurocritical Care Committee (INCC), section and its members have been working to uphold the NCS commitment to enhancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the society.

With that said, we wanted to share the upcoming INCC and INCC-related events taking place during the NCS 19th Annual Meeting later this month. We also wanted to include upcoming INCC activities that NCS members can participate in, such as book clubs and section activities in addition to sharing with the NCS community what has INCC done in the past year.

We would also like to highlight the following speakers:

  • Nerissa Ko, will be giving our INCC keynote. She has been very instrumental in moving WINCC forward as it transitioned into INCC. She has been a great leader and champion for DEI.
  • John Paul Sanchez will be giving a talk alongside the former WINCC section chair, Diana Greene-Chandos. Dr. John Paul Sanchez is a diversity expert Emergency Medicine Physician who has championed DEI not only in New Mexico but Internationally as well. He is the DEI Dean and DEI special assistant to the President of the University of New Mexico.
  • Greene-Chandos has been a mentor, sponsor, leader for a lot of neurointensivists. She established NCC programs, trained fellows and continued to be involved in Medical Education to establish the pipeline of diverse physicians in New Mexico.
