Saef Izzy, MD, graduated from the University of Baghdad College of Medicine in Baghdad, Iraq. He subsequently trained in neurology at the University of Massachusetts and completed his neurocritical care fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. After graduation, Dr. Izzy stayed as a faculty member in the divisions of stroke, cerebrovascular and critical care neurology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and he is now assistant professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. During his fellowship training, Dr. Izzy joined Currents, the Neurocritical Care Society’s international e-magazine, and served as the editor of the Residents and Fellows section from 2013 to September 2016. In October 2016, Dr. Izzy was selected by the NCS leadership to succeed Matthew Koenig as the third Editor-in-Chief of Currents.
